How would you install salt tiles in a sauna?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Question by psych0s3m4tic: How would you install salt tiles in a sauna?
Infared Dry Sauna reaches max temp of 150 degrees F.

I am familiar with installing Porcelain and Ceramic tiles on floors and countertops. But someone is asking about replacing windows in his dry sauna Himalayan salt tiles. Do you still use cement? How about the grout? Will the salt tiles be able to be cut with a standard saw blade or a diamond blade or something else?
Thats supposed to say replace the windows with the Himalayan salt tiles.

Himalayan salt tiles are more like bricks or blocks. As you are replacing a window with it I would assume it would be visible from both sides due to its thickness.I would Install it like I would a single pane of glass.Or multiple tiles with mullions. In this application I am thinking they want it for Speleotherapy. Speleotherapy means to be located in a room or area with a presence of Salt Crystal Rock and to breathe the Ionized air. Speleotherapy is a therapeutic measure in the treatment of chronic obstructive airways diseases and as an alternative treatment for asthma.

Q&A: I removed my dishwasher to install new floors, and when I reinstalled it, no power gets to the inlet valve?

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Question by Jeremy H: I removed my dishwasher to install new floors, and when I reinstalled it, no power gets to the inlet valve?
It is a G.E. dishwasher. I never disconnected anything electrical besides unplugging the dishwasher. That seems like a strange coincidence if this went bad right after I removed and reinstalled the dishwasher, but I don’t know what I would have done to cause this.
It is definitely not the copper pipe as water flows through this fine when disconnected. Is there any easy way to verify that it is a damaged solenoid. If so is this an easy/inexpensive fix?

Install New Fitted Kitchens and Dazzle Your Guests

Many home improvement ideas cannot be complete without considering the use of fitted kitchens as a way of bringing style and modern decor into your home. Nowadays, selecting the best style and choosing the type of fittings can easily be done from the comforts of your own living room, without the need of calling in a salesman to take the measurements. Not only does a new kitchen improve your home, it also adds value to your property. The choice you will have to make is whether to go for a brand new fitting or to improve the existing one through simple renovations.

There is nothing as captivating in a home as fitted kitchens. They add aura to the whole house as a perfect entertaining area that oozes of style and perfect decor finishing. You need to usher your guests into a sleek and streamlined picturesque kitchen, designed to suit the best of tastes.

Here are a few tips on installation of fitted kitchens:

Select your kitchen area very well and do not just look at it as a place for the preparation and serving of food. It is this and much more. It can be a social center or a family room where the whole family can meet and have a nice, relaxed time over happy dinners. This means you must select the flooring or wall tiles that match with your kitchen fittings and this may also include the type of lighting you will use to enhance the decor of your new kitchen.

When designing the new kitchen fittings, remember the “triangle” theory that says that the focal working points-like the sink, stove and fridge must be considered so as to avoid cramping them. Your ready fitted addition must revolve around these three appliances. Think of the units: most kitchens have one of the following design categories – single line, double line, L-shaped, or U-shaped. When designing what can go into your room, be clear with which of these layout units you would be working with.

Most beautiful fittings are now in the markets, which are complete with all the cupboards, countertops, sink-counters, wine racks, and so forth to choose from. These components may be bought as a set or as separate units. It is advised that one gets an expert fitter and a professional design expert to give specialist services that may be required. This will be especially true concerning wirings, plumbing and such like tasks.

Be free to design the kitchen to suit your own personal taste. The fact that you are bringing in fully fitted kitchens does not mean that you cannot make any adjustments to make it absolutely unique.

Adding some drop ceiling lights is a great way to enhance the look of any cooking area.
